I have mentioned Herts Young Mariners Base before.
This is a council funded outdoor education centre. We use the facilities on a Monday night for out training sessions be it on the lake they have or in a classroom. The photo above was taken from next to the lake looking back towards the centre a few weeks ago while we were open boating in the dark!
Tonight session at Lifeguards was held at a local swimming pool. This is the second session we have had in the pool recently. It’s a great place to practice you “wet” skills when it’s blooming freezing outside! I swear I saw the local canal frozen over the other day!
We practiced how to approach a casualty safely and various types of swimming contact tows to get the casualty ashore. Lots learnt by all, young and old.
The new Herts Canoe Lifeguards website is coming along well thanks to our IT expert committee member.
Why not have a look at it here http://www.hclifeguards.co.uk
Sorry for lack of updates. I have been away for a few weeks and was just slack before that!
Plans for Herts Canoe Lifeguard 2008 season are starting to come together; the list of events we are attending is growing!
The applications for the 2008 RNLI Lifeguard Season are out many new beaches have been added to the list!

Above is a picture of Charmouth, a beach I worked for a few days last summer. This is a very popular place with fossil hunters!
